Baguiati police busted a sex racket operating out of a hotel near Chinar Park and rescued two girls, including a minor. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid on June 3 at ‘Hotel Front View’, located on the third floor of Shivam Apartment. The raid was carried out after the Inspector-in-Charge of Baguiati Police Station took suo motu cognizance and registered a case under the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate.
During the raid, police rescued two female victims. One of them was identified as a minor. Both victims stated during questioning that they had been forcibly brought to the hotel for the purpose of prostitution. Based on their statements, police arrested Sabyasachi Ghosh from the spot. Officers also seized objectionable items and documents from the hotel room during the operation.
Further investigation led to the arrest of another accused, identified as Sagnik Shil alias Sinu, aged 20. The victims also named Subrato Bhattacharya and others as being involved in the case. Police confirmed that investigation is continuing to identify more persons connected to the racket.
